About Cameron University (CU)
Cameron University’s history dates back to the statehood of Oklahoma. A year after statehood, in 1908, the Oklahoma Legislature established six agricultural high schools, one in each judicial district. The name, Cameron State School of Agriculture, comes after Rev. E. D. Cameron, a Baptist minister and Oklahoma’s first State Superintendent of Schools.
