Indiana University- A prestigious institution

A public research institution in Bloomington, Indiana, Indiana University Bloomington (IU Bloomington, Indiana University, IU, or simply Indiana) With nearly 40,000 students, it is Indiana University’s largest campus. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 34,253 and a 1,953-acre campus. 

Campus

The 1,933 acres (7.82 km2) Indiana University Bloomington campus has a lot of open space and historical structures that date to the institution’s rebuilding in the late nineteenth century. An exceptional collection of Indiana art, including works by artists from Brown County, the Hoosier Group, the Richmond Group, and other groups, can be found at the IMU. The most extensive public art collection not housed in a museum is this one. At Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, the 3,200-seat Auditorium (IU Auditorium) is a performing arts center. It is in Indiana University’s Fine Arts Plaza next to the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design, and the Lilly Library.

Library

The Indiana University Bloomington Library System serves over twenty libraries and offers access to more than 9.9 million books, 800 databases, 60,000 electronic journal titles, and 815,000 ebooks. According to volumes kept, the system is the 14th largest library in North America. 

Reputation and ranking

The Association of American Universities, a grouping of top research universities in North America, has 62 members, including Indiana University. It is a Public Ivy school. U.S. News has placed the university’s Bloomington Masters in Public Affairs program as the best in the country as of 2022. It ranks first in nonprofit management, public finance, and environmental policy and management.  

In 2016, Bloomberg Businessweek named the Kelley School of Business at this University a prestigious business school with the best public undergraduate program. During 2017, the Academic Ranking of World Universities placed of this University Bloomington 49–60 domestically and 101–150 globally. 

In addition, it placed at number 16 in the world for business administration, 7 for communication, 5 for public administration, and 2 for library and information science. Out of the top public colleges in the country, U.S. News ranks is 26th. It ranks 20th among public universities by Forbes.

Academics

Indiana University-Bloomington has a student-to-faculty ratio of 17:1, and 39.6% of its classes have fewer than 20 pupils. Business, management, marketing, and related support services, biological and biomedical sciences, computer and information sciences and support services, public administration, and social service professions are the most sought-after majors at this University.

Other popular majors include parks, recreation, leisure, fitness, kinesiology, social sciences, education, visual and performing arts, and psychology. The 91% average freshman retention rate is a good indicator of student satisfaction.

Student life

34,253 undergraduate students are enrolled at The University-Bloomington as of the fall of 2021, with a gender split of 50% male and 50% female. At this university, 65% of students reside off campus while 35% live in housing owned, operated, or linked with the university. It competes in NCAA I sports.
