History of St. Lawrence College
The architect of the ‘Ontario College System,’ William Davis, who served as minister of education before becoming premier, founded the province’s applied arts and technology colleges. Davis did this in response to the expanding need for technical education. Founded in 1967, St. Lawrence College was a part of the province’s effort to construct multiple such institutions. These organizations aimed to provide the local populations with options for additional education, career-focused diploma and certificate programs, and continuing education classes.
