What do you mean by a letter to God?
Faith is a complex feeling. You can have faith in your parents, friends, relatives, or no one. People believe God is omnipresent, but certain people still question God’s presence. Would a letter to God help you with your faith and beliefs? Let us find out through this blog.
According to the NCERT class 10 English chapter, a letter to God tells the story of a man who is in a difficult situation, and God is the only person to go to for help. The man Lencho is a farmer who puts all his hard work into harvesting the crops. Once it is time for rainfall, he prays for a good amount of rain for the crops. He believes that God will come to his rescue as he always has. This time the events suggest otherwise, and it rains hail storms destroying all the crops and his efforts.
Angered and hurt by God’s reply to his sincere prayers, Lencho decides to write a letter to God.
Can God’s presence make any difference?
We can interpret God’s presence in many ways. According to a Sanskrit phrase, your mom, dad, and teacher come before the almighty God. This conveys the message that their presence is more important than God’s. Even a small act of kindness by people can confirm the presence of God in any form.
In this story, Lencho has blind faith in God. He writes a letter to God saying he needs 100 pesos to continue living or his family will die of hunger. The letter reaches the postman. The title, ‘A letter to God,’ surprises the postman. He reads the letter and is astounded by the unconditional faith Lencho has in God.
To keep his faith intact, the postman decides to contribute half his salary and asks his colleagues to chip in some money for the farmer. The postman manages to collect 70 pesos and packs it in the envelope as a reply from God.
When Lencho receives the envelope, he is not surprised at the amount but rather angry and disappointed. He writes a letter back saying he only received 70 pesos and wants God to deliver his remaining pesos at the earliest. He also mentions not sending the money through the post office, as he suspects that the postman and his colleagues might have stolen the remaining amount.
Surprising, isn’t it? The good-hearted postman is at the receiving end for helping a man in need. This is why a reality check is necessary. In this case, God is present in the form of the postman. The farmer’s blind belief could not recognize the good deeds of the postman. Always believe in what you see and feel. Sometimes we need an eye opener to see the world in a different light.
Key takeaways
People believe God is omnipresent. It is purely dependent on their faith and belief in God.
This story teaches us about the good samaritan act by the postman. He expects nothing in return from Lencho and contributes half of his salary to his family. The postman also convinces his colleagues to help the family with some monetary amount.
When we walk on the path of life, it is not always God who comes to our rescue. It can be your mom, neighbor, or a stranger. Look around and identify the good people. Work towards solving your problems rather than just sitting in one place and praying to God.
