About the Art Institute of Vancouver
The Art Institute of Vancouver (AIV) is an award-winning higher education provider that offers a variety of exciting ‘applied arts’ programs in fields such as visual effects for film and television, video game programming, digital film, video, game art and design, graphic design, interior design, fashion, and culinary arts, to name a few.

The Art Institute of Vancouver | A brief overview
The Art Institute of Vancouver is a branch of the well-known The Art Institute. The Art Institutes is a network of eight private schools and online programs dedicated to education, student outcomes, and community involvement.
This educational institution’s history began in 1979 with the sound school Buttertree (later named- the Center for Digital Imaging and Sound Processing).
The school joined the Institute of Arts in 2002, and the International Canadian Institute of Culinary and Hospitality has been a part of the university since 2003.
This institution is now a national leader in education in fields such as design, fashion, media, and culinary arts. Approximately 45 branches of the institute have been opened in two countries– the United States and Canada, where more than 125,000 students from all over the world come to study each year to this date.
One of the Institute of Arts in Vancouver’s most recent accomplishments is that in 2017, the university was an honorary member of the LCI Education network, which includes 22 higher education institutions in cities across five continents, including Barcelona, Montreal, Jakarta, and Melbourne.
According to the Princeton University ranking, AIV also ranked among the TOP-10 North American educational institutions in the Game Design field for the last four years and is widely regarded as Canada’s undisputed leader in the field.
Since 2004, the Art Institute of Vancouver has provided a variety of excellent educational programs for various types of applied art, ranging from animation and digital cinema to event planning, programming, and web design. The university’s main credo is to provide its students with the necessary knowledge and ideas under the supervision of professionals in their field.
Graduates of the Institute work with a variety of well-known companies, including MTV, Disney, Microsoft, Yahoo, Time Warner, Marriott, Ford, Fox Interference, and many more.
Campus
AIV occupies an 80,000-square-foot building in Vancouver and offers various programs related to design and arts. AIV’s mission is to provide excellence in knowledge development and skill development, as well as to assist students in achieving their career goals in a professional, stimulating, and friendly environment.
AIV has two campuses in Vancouver, one for the International School of Culinary Arts and another for students studying design, fashion, and media on Renfrew Street. The ‘School of Sponsored Housing’ program operates to accommodate many students on the University of Vancouver campus, and it can arrange for you to stay in a complex of apartments near campus.
Students can stay in rooms for up to four people, with two bedrooms, desks for the number of residents, a balcony, a kitchen, and a common room. However, the hostel’s grounds are equipped with free Wi-Fi. For security, registered electronic cards are used to gain access to the building, and cameras monitor the common areas.
Both campuses are in areas with good transportation, and the central park, shops, and cafes where students can eat are all within walking distance. The young people who live in the residence prepare their own meals. The cost of quarterly rental housing includes the use of basic furniture and utilities.
AIV students can also acquire accommodation in a welcoming Canadian family. Each student will have his or her own room here (bathroom shared or separate). The host family provides a full-board meal – breakfast, lunch, and dinner for an additional fee.
