Campus
More than 20,000 students attend Algonquin College’s campuses in Ottawa, Perth, and Pembroke, Ontario, with many enrolling in online courses. The College is Eastern Ontario’s largest vocational training institution, with programs for study areas such as health, business, media and design, trades and technology, heritage trades, public safety, community studies, hospitality and tourism, outdoor adventure, and more.
Courses
Students graduating from high school and pursuing postsecondary education, as well as those transitioning from the working world to those returning to schools, further education, or a second career, are the college’s primary audiences. The college also provides a number of programs for high school students to better prepare them for a successful career.

Algonquin’s emphasis is on the arts and technology, with a strong emphasis on applied theory and practical experience. Over 19,000 full-time students are studying for more than 180 programs. There are 155 college programs in Ontario, 18 apprenticeship programs, 40 cooperative degree programs, 6 collaborative degree programs, and 6 bachelor’s degree programs. Some of these degrees are offered in collaboration with Carleton University and the University of Ottawa.

Life at Algonquin
The Algonquin Student Association (SA) provides numerous opportunities for involvement in the community and shaping its students’ college experience. Sports
The Algonquin Wolves play at the Jack Doyle Athletics and Recreation Centre on the Ottawa Campus. The SA owns and operates the varsity teams in four major sports (basketball, rugby, soccer, and volleyball). The SA provides fitness and recreation on each campus, with all the necessary equipment and services to keep the students active, with no additional user fees for full-time students.

Residence
Residence at Algonquin provides everything a student needs to make the transition to college life as easy as possible. Students will meet new people, attend events, use recreation facilities, and participate in social activities. The Ottawa residence has 520 two-bedroom suites that can house 1,040 students. Algonquin College was one of the world’s best animation schools in 2017 rankings
The Animation program at Algonquin College has been named one of the best in Canada and the world in the Animation Career Review’s seventh annual International Animation School Rankings.
According to the Animation Career Review, Algonquin College is the 10th-best animation training program in the world and the sixth-best in Canada out of 167 worldwide schools with animation programs.
International recognition is beneficial to prospective students because it reinforces the notion that job opportunities exist in the animation field.

In the most recent Animation Career Review rankings, Algonquin College was named one of the top animation schools in the world.
According to the website, Algonquin is ranked sixth in the world and fourth in Canada in the category of Top Animation Training Programs. This is the College’s second consecutive year in the Top 10 of the international rankings, having risen four spots from 10th in 2019.
