Established in 1967, The Algonquin College of applied arts and technology is an open institute affiliated with the Canadian collegiate athletic association, the Canadian bureau for international association, and polytechnics Canada. The institute was founded in 1967 during the establishment of Ontario’s college system.
The eastern Ontario institute of technology and the Ontario vocational center Ottawa were the founding institutions that opened their gates to students in 1957.
Carleton University, the University of Ottawa, and Shopify are among the organizations and universities partnered with the institute. The institute operates three campuses in Ottawa, Perth, and Pembroke. It opened the housing facility on the Canada campus in 2003, with a capacity of approximately 1,050 students. The hostel provides all of the residential facilities that students require. It also has parking, pick-up, and drop-off services for all local students.
There are digital classrooms, cafeterias, medical facilities, and auditoriums on the campus. All of the institute’s events, guest lectures, competitions, and fests occur on campus. The Perth campus, with its many heritage buildings, provides the intimacy of small classes in specialized programs such as Business Agriculture and Heritage Carpentry, among others.
