Established in 1870, Stevens Institute of Technology is a private university.

All student-athletes have a faculty mentor to help them balance sports and schoolwork through the school’s Adopt-a-Team program.

Until 1971, the school was exclusively for male students; now, females make up 30% of the student body. Alfred W. Fielding, one of the inventors of Bubble Wrap packaging material, and Frederick Winslow Taylor, who is widely regarded as the father of scientific management, are both Stevens alumni.
