The London School of Economics & Political Science was founded in 1895 by five Fabian Society Members. The university went on to join the University of London in the year 1900, establishing its first degree under the auspices of the same. From the year 2008, LSE began providing qualifications under its own name. It is the only public research university in London for specialized social science studies.
