Royal Roads University (also known as RRU or Royal Roads) is a public university in Colwood, British Columbia. It lies on Vancouver Island at the Hatley Park National Historic Site. Following the closure of Royal Roads Military College (RRMC) in 1995, the government of British Columbia established Royal Roads as a public university specializing in applied and professional degrees.
The university considers RRMC alumni to be part of its larger alumni community. Royal Roads University has a long track record of success. Campus
The university has a 565-acre main campus with many walking, hiking, and biking trails surrounded by lush greenery. It is also the location of the historic Hatley Castle, which has appeared in a number of television shows and films, including X2 and X-Men- The Last Stand, Arrow, and so on. On its lower level, the castle also houses the Royal Roads University Museum, a small Canadian museum. The university library has a large collection of digital and printed resources for learning, teaching, and research, including 48,000 books, 55,000 e-books, and more than 100 online databases.
The four-story Learning and Innovation Centre, which opened in 2011, has 33 breakout rooms, seven classrooms, five computer labs with modern technology equipment, and several social spaces. The Sherman Jen Building, which houses a social center, conference center, academic facilities, and dormitories, is another important structure on campus. This building houses the International Study Centre, which includes 11 classrooms, laboratories, teaching spaces, offices, and a coffee and snack kiosk. A gymnasium, weight room, fitness studio, swimming pool, computer lab, canteen, boathouse and dock, garage, squash courts, and outdoor tennis courts are also available on campus.
Courses
The university offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs, as well as a variety of certificate and diploma courses. These courses are available in the format of on-campus, online, or a combination of the two. Business, communication, education, culture, technology, humanitarian studies, tourism, hospitality, environment and sustainability, executive education, interdisciplinary and leadership studies are all available at the university. With approximately 5,300 students from over 60 countries, Royal Roads University is a vibrant community that represents diversity. Over 550 international students make up the student body.
