Swinburne University of Technology (abbreviated as Swinburne) is an Australian public research university located in Melbourne. Established in 1908, formerly the Eastern Suburbs Technical College serves students in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs who lacked access to further education. Its main campus is in Hawthorn, a Melbourne suburb 7.5 kilometers from the city’s central business district. In addition to its main campus, it has 3 campuses in Australia as well as two in Asia.

Swinburne ranked equal first in Victoria for the ‘entire education experience’ for undergraduate students in the 2020 Student Experience Survey, with an overall satisfaction rate of 80%. Swinburne is Melbourne’s only academic institution that provides pilot training as part of its aviation degrees.

Campus

Swinburne University of Technology has three Australian campuses and two international campuses. The Australian campuses are in Hawthorn, Croydon, and Wantirna, and are outfitted with world-class facilities to provide students with a comfortable academic environment. 

The university’s main campus, Hawthorn campus, is located in Melbourne. Cafes and restaurants surround the campus and provide amenities, such as a bookstore, counseling services, and childcare.
