The University of Kent (formerly the University of Kent at Canterbury, abbreviated as UKC) is a public research university in Kent, England. The university received its royal charter on January 4, 1965. Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, became the first chancellor in the following year.

The university’s main campus is located north of Canterbury on 300 acres (1.2 km2) of parkland, and it houses over 6,000 students. It also has campuses in Medway and Tonbridge in Kent, as well as European postgraduate centers in Brussels, Athens, Rome, and Paris.

With students of 158 different nationalities and 41% of its academic and research staff from outside the United Kingdom, the university is truly international. UKC belongs to the Santander Network of European Universities, which promotes social and economic development.

Kent University provides teaching facilities in safe and welcoming study environments in Canterbury and Medway, as well as specialist postgraduate centers in Paris and Brussels. Campus

The University of Kent maintains four campuses in Canterbury, Medway, Brussels, and Paris. The Canterbury campus is located in Parkland and is the main campus that includes six academic departments, the Gulbenkian Arts Center, the Templeman Library, and the Mandela Building. It offers excellent academic, residential, and dining facilities. The School of Continuing Education opened its doors in Tonbridge in 1982.

It currently works with Kent Innovation and Enterprise and Kent Business School. The Medway Campus lies near the towns of Chatham and Rochester on the site of a former naval base.

The campus is split into two sections- Dockyard Chatham and Pembroke. Drill Hall Library, professional practice and journalism centers, the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, the Student Hub social space and the Medway branches of the Schools of Social Policy, Sociology, Social Research, and Computing are all located in Pembroke. The Dockyard is home to the Centre for Music and Audio Technology, as well as the Kent Business School Medway branch. The university also has branches in other parts of Europe, such as Paris and Brussels. The University of Kent also works in collaboration with 388 institutions worldwide.

Courses

The University of Kent offers degree programs at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels. There are also a number of part-time and distance learning programs. Popular subjects include architecture, environment, art, media, English, philosophy, social sciences, history, music, natural sciences, pharmacy, finance, sports, medicine, law, journalism, psychology, anthropology, economics, and so on The college has a 1:12 faculty-to-student ratio, which means that students can receive personal attention from faculty. Fees for the year 2023-24 range from £18,000 to £21,900 for undergraduate programs and from £6,000 to £23,100 for postgraduate programs.
