Founded in 1839, with 17 Schools and colleges and almost 300 programs of study, BU is one of the best universities in the USA. Renowned for its Medical and Law programs, the Boston University acceptance rate is fairly strict, with only 22.1% of the total applicants getting admitted. Additionally, the university has an outstanding graduation rate of 86.5%.

  • GPA– BU requires a GPA more than 6 out of 10 (GPA-3.6/4)
  • SAT/ACT- While BU doesn’t specify a certain cutoff for application, it certainly requires one. An SAT score below 1290 or an ACT score below 27 will drastically reduce your chances of getting in.
  • GRE– They need an average of 60% for Verbal and 80% for Quantitative.
  • TOEFL/IELTS– For TOEFL, a score of 85-100 is required, while IELTS needs 7.0/10

As long as you fulfill these minimum requirements, you have a chance of getting into Boston University. After that, it all comes down to how you build and present your profile.

Along with 500 student clubs and arts and educational activities, BU and its surrounding universities enjoy some very healthy sports competitions. Hockey is already a popular sport in Boston, with Boston Bruins as the home team.

The city also holds the Beanpot, which attracts quite a crowd. The Beanpot is a Hockey tournament where Boston University, Harvard, Northeastern, and Boston College compete for bragging rights for the best hockey team in the city.

BU advises international students to apply for fall admission to allow them sufficient time to process your application. For this, the average Boston University tuition fees are-

  • Undergraduates – $56,854 per year
  • Graduates – $21,888 to $82,500 per year, with medical degrees costing much higher than the others

Additionally, living expenses, costs of books, food, and traveling amount the charges to-

  • Undergraduates – $65,372 for students off-campus and $$77,662 for students on-campus
  • Graduates- $43,122 to $124, 510, the base tuition is the main differentiator in the cost

Boston University application deadline

The application deadlines depend upon the program you choose to apply to. In general, however, international applications for the fall semester have to be submitted before 4th January.
