Military personnel gets access to healthcare, housing and homeownership programs, finance options, and discounts on other services. Other perks include caregiver aid, tax preparation assistance, and assistance with job development. Military and veteran benefits include educational programs for members of the armed forces, their spouses, and their dependents. The list of military scholarships are as follows:
Army group insurance fund (AGI/AGIF)
With effect from 2011-12, AGI announced a scholarship program for 24% of Army wards studying in Army Professional Colleges.
Nine hundred one scholarships at Rs 40,000 per Head per annum-
AGIF covers the following twelve AWES institutes under the Scholarship Scheme:-
- Army College of Dental Science (ACDS), Secunderabad.
- Army Institute of Law (AIL), Mohali.
- Army College of Medical Science (ACMS), Delhi Cantt.
- Army Institute of Technology (AIT), Pune.
- Army College of Nursing (ACN), Jalandhar.
- Army Institute of Nursing (AIN), Guwahati.
- Army Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (AIHM&CT), Bangalore.
- Army Institute of Management Kolkata (AIMK).
- Army Institute of Management & Technology (AIMT), Greater Noida.
- Army Institute of Fashion Design (AIFD), Bangalore.
- Army Institute of Education (AIE), Delhi.
- Army Centre of Education (ACE), Panchmarhi.
The percentage of eligible students for AGIF Scholarships awarded is 24% of the total intake per stream per year. Vacancies for scholarships are as follows:
- Officers Wards. – 6%.
- Wards of JCOs/OR – 10%.
- Girls of JCOs/OR – 8%.
Total: 24%
Eligibility conditions:
- The scholarship is only available to wards of serving/ex-servicemen officers and JCOs/OR.
- The scholarship will be available beginning with the first year of enrollment and based on the percentage of 10+2 marks obtained level/degree level examination. Scholarships for the following year will be provided depending on a student’s performance in the previous technical/professional program year.
- Every year, the Head of the respective twelve AWES institutes will compile a merit list, which will be forwarded to AGIF for the scholarships for the following year.
DLF Raghvendra scholarship
With effect from the annual year 2011-12, AIMK(Army Institute of Management, Kolkata), AIT(Army Institute of Technology), and ACMS(Army College of Medical Sciences) for two students at each institute. Scholarship @ Rs 50,000 for MBA and Rs 40,000 for undergraduates.
Eligibility criteria:
The following are the eligibility requirements for Professional Courses Scholarships:
1) The candidate must be an Indian citizen and a resident of India.
2) Income of the parent/ guardian not to exceed Rs 1.80 lakh/ annum, except for MBBS courses for
which the income limit is Rs 4.00 lakh per annum. (Needs income certificate)
3) The scholarship will be merit-based. The Trust will accept the results of the institute’s or other centralized bodies’ entrance tests for admitting students to their institute as the basis for determining the worthy candidates.
4) Students eligible for the scholarship should have completed their higher secondary examinations
from Government approved/ Government-aided schools.
5) Preference for at least one seat per institution will be given to women candidates, fulfilling
eligibility conditions. Waving off the criterion will be considered in the case of a gender-specific institution.
6) In case the eligible candidates are more than the number of scholarships available, the candidates will be assessed against the overall weightage laid down by the Trust on their current ranking in the merit list, past academic record, economic conditions, and personal interview by a selection panel if required.
7) Visit the residence of the applicant may be made to verify the income criteria/ economic
condition of the parents before approving the scholarship.
8) The Trust would accept applications only from those Academic Institutions that have signed the
MoU with the Trust.
9) Students who have been admitted formally by the partner academic institutions and those who meet the listed qualifying criteria for the scholarship would finally be considered by the Trust for awarding the scholarships.
Education Scholarship Scheme. for Army Personnel (ESSA)
Merit certificates are also awarded along with the scholarships.
Rates of scholarships revised from the academic year 2010-11 per annum as under-
IX to XII – Rs 1500/-
Graduation Level – Rs 2500/-
PG/Professional Courses – Rs 6000/-
The last date for receipt of applications – is 30 November every year.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The student willing to apply must study in any class from the 9th to postgraduate level.
- The student must not be more than 25 years at the time of completion of class or course.
- They must be the ward of serving Army personnel and MNS.
- They have to secure the prescribed cutoff.
