Indo-Pacific students can now pursue a four-year undergraduate engineering program at government-funded technical institutes in India, thanks to 50 Quad scholarships worth $500,000, announced recently after the Quad Summit in Clayton, Delaware.
The Quad Summit, attended by giant world leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of Australia, and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan, was hosted by US President Joe Biden.
This edict on Quad scholarship will bolster India’s standing and cachet as a study-abroad destination, facilitating scholarship for Indo-Pacific students. Foreign students will now view India as a viable country in which to study engineering.

- The Institute of International Education (IIE) has expanded the program’s inclusiveness to allow students from countries that are part of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to take advantage of the Quad fellowship
- The fellowship will be managed by the Institute of International Education (IIE), a global not-for-profit organization.
- Students considered under the Quad fellowship hail from Australia, India, Japan, the United States, and the 10 Southeast Asian countries of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
- Under the scholarship, students will be selected on the basis of their:-
- Academic excellence.
- Excellent results and scores in their fields.
- An altruistic desire to use their talents to ensure the social good and global prosperity.
- The Quad has also expressed its pleasure of receiving unsolicited support from private sector partners for the next cohort of fellows, including Google, the Pratt Foundation, and Western Digital.

Quad is a cohesive international alliance with member states such as India, Australia, Japan, and the United States. It has been created to foster regional peace and expedite humanitarian efforts in the Indo-Pacific region.
Quad Fellowship is a pathbreaking initiative started by Quad members in 2021 to cement, consolidate, and solidify collaborative efforts between the next generations of scientists and technologists. It is likely to begin in 2024 and will be regulated by the Institute of International Education (IIE), a globally acknowledged non-profit organization that takes care of many notable scholarship programs and fellowships across the world.
