For many students on a limited budget, this may be hard to believe but getting quality education abroad is possible. Plenty of international countries believe in offering equal opportunities to everyone, which includes international students as well. In this article, we discuss five of the cheapest countries to study abroad for Indian students.

Norway

While the cost of living in Norway might be slightly high, at approximately 140,000 NOK per year for all your expenses, the absence or reduced educational expenses make up for it.

Most of the educational programs in Norway are in English. Moreover, many of the locals there are proficient in English. Therefore, you wouldn’t have problems interacting with them daily and the language barrier would be minimal.

The fees for undergraduate programs at the university start at  TW$ 100,920, which amounts to 3,265 USD. Even the liberal arts programs at the university cost around TW$ 124,200 or 4020 USD per year making Taiwan one of the cheapest countries to study abroad.

More than 120 courses in 40 universities in Taiwan are taught in English. International students can also use the opportunity of interacting with the locals and learning about their culture and language.

Additionally, students can gain access to a decent quality of living at low accommodation costs. The annual cost of living in Taiwan amounts to TW$ 90,000, which is 2910 USD.

Students at the undergraduate and Ph.D. levels are not required to pay tuition fees for their studies. This facility is available in all public universities except the  Baden-Württemberg University.

On the other hand, a master’s student without an undergraduate degree in Germany will have to pay a fee for their program. Masters’ candidates have to pay around €20,000 (22,400 USD) each year.

The cost of living in Germany is at least €10,000 (11,200 USD), but it can vary according to your lifestyle, spending habits, and location.

France

The cost of studying in Europe, at the most affordable universities in Europe, are the University of Orleans (170-601 euros a year), and the University of Strasbourg (184-610 euros a year). 

Denmark

Moreover, the country is highly reputed for its quality education, which focuses on helping students use what they have learned to design innovative solutions.

Higher education in Denmark is free for students who are from EU/EEA or Switzerland! Even exchange students do not have to pay any tuition fees while they’re studying in Denmark.

If, however, you do not fall into any of these categories, you would have to pay anywhere between 6000 and 16,000 euros per annum.

Apart from this, you would also have to consider your cost of living, which will include accommodation, food, transport, and other miscellaneous expenses. This amounts to anywhere between 900 and 1650 euros per month, depending on your choice of accommodation and other factors.

So, which country should I choose?

Well, the first thing you need to do is choose a course. Do you want to do pursue MS or MBA? Are you interested in studying Culinary Arts or would you prefer taking up a STEM course?

Once you’ve chosen, see which of these countries have universities that offer the course of your interest. At the same time, check if you are eligible to apply to these institutions. For example, some German universities might not accept students who don’t know German.
