The student profile is the most important part of the admission process. Your profile will decide whether you will get the admission or not. Student profiles are evaluated based on different criteria. Your Score (GPA, entrance test scores, School grades), Resume, Statement of Purpose, Letter of recommendation, Research work (if any), work experience (if any), this is the basic method of profile evaluation.
For a bachelor's in mechanical engineering MIT, Stanford University, UCB, California Institute of Technology are some of the best universities you can choose from. The tuition fees for these universities are,

MIT- $53,450 Stanford University- $55,473 UCB- $43,938 California Institute of Technology- $52,506

There are universities which allow you to explore several disciplines during the first year of your undergrad program
After that, you can choose to specialize in one subject
The University of Melbourne is one of them
So, if you don't want to take a gap year, you can look for these kinds of programs

      SCIZOME

please someone read this and please help me to know how much should i improve or what else should i do so that i could get admitted in colleges like mit or harvard after 2 years.

Hello, I am an indian and i have recently came in class 11th and want to study abroad after 12th.
I usually score around 87% to 99% in my school exams and I think that i will score good marks in Sat, TOEFL and AP exams. i have worked on some good projects with my mentors and usually take part in some international and national competitions .
and have some good ideas about many community projects.
this year i will also try qualify for ioi and will also give IMO this year but i dont know that i will qualify for IOI or not. I like to learn to new things and take part in many things like summer program like bwsi by MIT and some programs held by our government. and i like to learn about new technology like i learned by research and online resources about soft robotics . i have started youtube where i do gaming and teach about robotics and coding and is making website where i will regularly upload blogs and i was planning that the money i will earn by youtube and my website i will invest them in some of my projects that i like to make and one of them is brain wave controller . and i also like to do cooking.

so please someone read this and help me to know how much should i improve or what else should i do so that i could get admitted in colleges like mit or harvard after 2 years.

A profile with academics and extra/co-curricular always has an edge. But, you can still work on your profile. If your academics are good, you don't have to worry much.

You can do some course certification to build your profile. These certifications can align with the course you want to pursue. Go for internships. Volunteer in an NGO or events.

There are many ways in which you can build your profile to get into your dream university. You can read about them all here: Profile building tips.

Talking about the extracurricular activities, you can:

Do internships in your field of study Do some certification courses. It will help you build your profile for the course you want to pursue. Not related to CS, but doing volunteer work also helps create a strong profile. You can also work on a research paper if that interests you.

You can read many such tips in detail here: Profile building tips for students
