California State University is a prime university started in 1947 and located in the heart of Los Angeles. It was founded through the Act of the California legislature. CSU is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and is affiliated with the California State University System.

California State University system includes 23 campuses across California. Twenty-one of these campuses are located in the greater Los Angeles area, while one campus is in San Francisco. There are four types of CSUs: CSU Community Colleges; California State Universities; Sacramento Area CSUs; and San Francisco Area CSUs.

California State University provides undergraduate and master's degree programs in several disciplines like Business, Accounts, Arts, Engineering, Communication, Sciences, Nursing, Economics, Computer Science, and Philosophy. It considers applications with an acceptance rate of nearly 76%. CSU is home to more than 23,000 students, out of which 20% of the students' population comes from foreign soil. The Princeton Review has recognized the university for having one of the finest MBA programs in the country.

The university has competed in solar car races in the United States and Australia, winning in 1997. The university has received international recognition for its Hydrogen Research and Fueling Facility, the first station in the United States to be certified to sell fuel by kilogram to the public.
